Just Too Cute

You never know what will jump off the shelf when I stroll through the store with my camera!
Such as this wonderful soft alpaca bunny from Steiff. What a cute face!

He's about 7 inches in size and is $90 and can be ordered here.
Next:
This wonderful 9-inch FELT rooster from Steiff. A white tag limited edition item. $270. This absolutely amazing piece can be ordered here.

And 3rd, another bird:

The Steiff Stork, felt and about 6 inches in size. He is holding a little itty bitty Deb Canham dollshouse bear. The stork is $80. I'll include the little dollshouse bear (a $20 value) when you order the stork here.
And then there's 4th:

A little 5" Hermann mohair thumbsucking bear. Yes, his thumb is removable and he is as scruffy and soft as he looks. He's $125 and he's not on the website yet. If you want him, you'll have to email me at mostlybears (at) gmail (dot) com or give the store a call toll free at 1-877-709-7191. He's a real cutie pie!

And now...drum roll...5th but not least:

Here's a heavy, scruffy old Effanbee bear named Spencer. He's about 16" in size, heavily weighted, fully jointed and is currently listed on ebay as a charity auction. I hope you'll pop over and make a generous bid for this needy old bear. It's for a great cause!

P.S. There's still time to leave a comment or send me an email to sign up for the free giveaways. I will probably be drawing in the next couple of weeks. See the upper right portion of this blog for the "link for free stuff".

Mostly Bears October Newsletter

Hello fellow teddy bear lovers, I'm so glad you stopped in to visit the Mostly Bears blog-letter!

I enjoyed creating and updating this site as the Happy Wanderers Blog during our "big adventure" earlier this summer. (see archived entries) Now that we are home and settled, it has morphed into the Mostly Bears store blog...so...I thought this would be the perfect format for our store newsletters too.

If you're new to blogging, I hope you'll enjoy looking around and visiting some of the old entries. Please feel free to leave comments here anytime. Bloggers love getting comments! You may be prompted to sign up for a Google account in order to be allowed to make blog comments, but it's easy to do...all you need is an email address. And who knows, you may want to start your own blog sometime. (If you do start your own, let me know and I'll link to it!)

Well, out here in the desert southwest, it's a great relief to see our fall weather approaching. We've collectively survived summer and now we're about to get our reward: cool sunny days and cooler starry nights. (Operative word being cool)

Whew! Survived another one!

Seeing as how we already took the aforementioned big adventure, we won't be doing our usual "New England autumn leaves admiration tour" this year. October was definitely my favorite time of the year growing up in Vermont! Ah, well, we will have to shoot for next year.

On the upside, it's great to be here in the store for the arrival of our new fall orders and to get our bear making classes up and running again. We will be offering a two-Saturday class with Mary Ann Neisz at the end of the month. (see more info later in this posting.) And we have quite a few Deb Canham, Steiff and Hansa items on order which are beginning to arrive each week. It'd be just like Christmas...opening the boxes, that is...if it wasn't still October.

It's particularly exciting to know that we're about to receive our first order of the new Steiff Kinder dolls. This is a brand new collaboration between R. John Wright and Steiff. The dolls, made from felt and impeccably dressed, stand about 17" tall and will be limited to 500 each worldwide.
Here's Sophie & Lucas, who are on their way:

This series will undoubtedly be a sell-out with the first two dolls coming now and the other two (shown below) due to arrive later this year. Though quite pricey($1275 each!), we do have a Steiff sale going on until the end of this month which would be applicable to the new in-stock pieces. Especially appealing if these new dolls are a "Must Have" for you!

And then, here are Katharina and Mathias, which we will hopefully see by December:

Also from Steiff, we've collected together a very nice selection of plush bears and animals which are great gift ideas for the holidays. Pricing is quite reasonable on most of the pieces and Steiff uses some wonderful textured fabrics for them. They are so very soft and huggable. We also have several *Made in Germany* jointed plush bears in stock as well, a wonderful first bear for a cherished grandchild! Here's a little snapshot of our Steiff plush display here in the store: We hope you'll join us for our new October class:

As many of you already know, Mary Ann is a GREAT teacher! Even if you've made lots of bears already, you'll undoubtedly learn something new by taking one of her classes. For more info or to register, just give us a call at the store (520-322-0208 or toll free at 1-877-709-7191) or email me at mostlybears(at)liveline(dot)com. Or visit our website and click on Bear Making.

October Sale

What would October be without a sale! Here's what's cookin' in the sale department, effective from the time you read this until the last day of October:

(Hint: it's a great time to stock up for Christmas, which as we all know is approaching at the speed of light!)(And here's the fine print: Sale prices are for in-stock items only & not to be combined with other discounts or coupons.)

Well, that's about all I got for the moment. Be sure to check back often as I'll be posting photos and information about new items as they arrive.

Hope to hear from you soon and better yet, see you here at Mostly Bears. We'll enjoy this lovely Tucson fall together!

Sincerely,

Trish

P.S. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot to include a couple of photos from our recent two day trip to Grand Canyon West. Yes, I was brave and did the Skywalk thing!
